So im running a little late for work and my mum is gonna drive me to the office.
At the traffic junction, the light turns green for the left filter arrow to go ahead and here is this nice bloody mat on a motorbike just idling his way in the middle of the road (and probably through life).

So my mum did the logical thing - sounded a short horn to ask him to move along.

wednesday and thursday i have reservist.
i hope they let me out early balls.

then first day raya i'm home.
day 2 and 3 i work.
and then 4th day (the 13th) right up til the 25th of the month i'll be serving some important reservist duties in jurong camp.

why?
because there is no other time during the 12 months of the year that i can serve this reservist.
if my unit doesn't have reservist during this raya period then it will throw the whole defence of the nation into turmoil because it would not make sense to have reservist during the months of the year where there are no major holidays.

i blame this latest post being late on the fact that i just turned 27.
that's right... age is creeping up with me and i'm just not as fast as i used to be.

my snooqums got us GOLD CLASS tickets!!

we watched 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice' and they actually serve you at your seat which has a table lah!
okay okay call me a jakun but in all my years of movie watching this was the very first time experiencing Gold Class okay.
and boy oh boy was it good.
rest assured if the right movie comes along - Gold Class it is!

and after that we went across the water to Sentosa for my 2nd surprise of the night.

dinner at the Hard Rock Hotel at RWS.

the place was really really nice.
food was so-so but i didn't mind because i enjoyed the company :)

that's right bubbos i'm finally getting the chance to put up the post.

so my-snooqums and mr-&-mrs-porno joined me for a fun-filled 4 days in sunny phuket. and i know mr-rider and me went about a year ago around the same time but hey phuket fucking rules lah and i don't mind going again.

is anyone else excited about this trip?

well we flew up on jet star and it cost like SGD 130 per passenger for a round-trip which was not bad i guess plus the timings were pretty convenient.

so anyways. fast forward to arrival in phuket and we were picked up by our driver whose services were enlisted by mr-&-mrs-porno since they used him the last time they came down.

his name is Kun and he's big size but a really gentle giant.
but i think he could easily sit on mr-porno and myself and we would not be able to do shit.

so we arrived at out hotel. it's called White Sands Resortel

and as you can see by the map it's really really near the beach.
in fact the beach is literally across the street!

and don't be put off by the reviews you may read on some sites.
it's not THAT bad plus they have two types of rooms - the older type which is bigger and also the smaller but newer ones so it's actually not bad.
plus at SGD 60 a night it's a steal!

and it wasn't that there were people on i making a shit load of noise or even the thai music that was playing.

it was the announcement being made over the loud speaker...

and it kept going on and on in a loop.
maybe it was the slang of the announcer or maybe they used some thai charm or some shit but it was so hypnotizing...

and up til now... my brother still can't get the slang right...

okay so we obviously did a fair bit of shopping but we also took time to go for an island tour... and it's not those usual snorkelling kind of thing.
this time it was more swimming and some canoeing in caves kinda thing.

and so we did the whole tourist thing

they have this pasar malam thing every saturday apparently near the masjid india area and i spotted this and it brought back memories of my childhood because when i was young i would've practically begged for the spider-man one and i wouldn't get one because i had the habit of letting it go and it'll float away into the sky.

of course preparations had been ongoing for the past few weeks but this was the day where it all came together.

my aunts had come over the night before and got cracking to finalize the gifts that we would be sending over to miss-yana's place.

actually... there's a story behind what happened in the morning...

the floral bouquet you see above was actually pre-ordered by my brother and was supposed to be collected by someone. PLUS also some stalks of roses for decoration and shit like that...

but alas lucky we headed out on our own to get the flowers and then fetch my 80-year-old-and-still-strong tok-said (the wakil*) back to our place while waiting for our mcdonald's breakfast deluxe to arrive.

apparently the tapping of a key resulted in a scratch on that big ass diamond thing i mentioned earlier.
So we had to rush back to thomson to exchange it only to find that the stalks of roses had not been bought and we now had to find some.
only problem being.. time was running out!

enter my snooqums to the rescue.

she got the roses while my brother and i got the chocolates and 10 loaves of giant bread. how's that for teamwork eh eh.

so anyways.
after all that excitement it was finally time to go.

there's this new stall that opened up at the coffeeshop near my office.
it's called Q-zin something or rather (trying their best to be clever i guess but it doesn't impress me) and they serve malay food.

i decided to try the nasi ayam penyet one day.

well they serve you plain white rice which is fine because the original nasi ayam penyet is apparently supposed to be plain white rice. i guess i'm just used to the type where they serve you the 'chicken rice' rice y'know what i mean.

well anyways. enough about the rice.
the kicker came when they gave me the soup.

that's asam pedas!

for those of you who do not know what asam pedas is then go google that shit but trust me it is NOT something you serve with chicken rice of any kind.
and i've checked and NO it is not some 'original' shit like the white rice.

so that was an ultimate FAIL.

not bad for the both. but my brother's new favourite is the Ice Lemon Tea.
you might wanna give it a try for a new product it's not bad.

on the other hand...

Pokka's new Pineapple Tea sucks balls to the max.
i ain't shitting you. it really sucks.

Pokka should stick to it's original flavours like Mango, Lemon, Peach & Apple.
Pineapple and tea DO NOT go together well at all.

and i've seen the next product so many times but only have have i tried it.

there are 2 different Whittakers's 'Peanut Slab' chocolate bars to choose from.
one is almond and one is raisin.
i tried the raisin.

one thing i CAN safely say is that it's a thick bar.

and you can see the peanuts there. and there are some raisins too.
but obviously not enough.

the chocolate itself is not particularly sweet.
and the packaging is kinda dull if you ask me.
and at quite a high price for such a small chocolate bar, i don't think it's worth it to be honest.
in fact the peanuts were kinda old. not crunchy at all.
(or maybe i got an old bar. who knows?)

went to carrefour about a week ago.
came across this..

as the name implies. it's FIERCE.
it may have such a concentrated taste as the normal Gatorade you buy but at the price of $1.40 for close to a litre i say it's worth it.

so this post is a little back-dated but bear with me people.

as you all may know - my parents' birhdays recently went by.
the thing is their birthdays are exactly a week apart and it just so happened that the middle of that one-week period happened to be a weekend this year.

SURPRISE PARTY LAH!!!!

so i booked this chalet at costa sands pasir ris for the occasion and my brother and myself went about planning on how to execute the plan.

the hardest part was actually getting in contact with my parents' friends and relatives to invite them for the surprise party.
and to make things even more on edge, we were almost caught taking the numbers right out form the mobile phones! wahahahaha
that was actually really close but thanks to some quick thinking, the golden boys brothers narrowly escaped with the secret plans still in order.

we called up the people we could think of which was mostly relatives and close friends/business partners of my parents and informed them of the plans.
and one thing led to another and so on that an original guest list of about 30-40 people had now grown to about 70-80 people.

but no issues. surely can one.
right?

we told my parents that they were invited to a chalet party being thrown by my-snooqums family for some function or rather. so it was set.

and o help matters on even further, my parents had errands to run in the morning and would only be back in the afternoon which made things a bit more convenient for us.

so at 10:00am the day of...

all set out on an adventure never before known to man.
(okay maybe known before lah but not by us.)
but then again... we are not just men.... we are...

so my brother and myself went to sheng siong first to get all the frozen stuff like the sotong balls and then hot dogs and all the what nots for the bbq.
the other stuff like the sambal stingray and chicken wings i had pre-ordered from the same place that i had ordered for my 25th birthday party so that was only for collection later.

so we sent the stuff that needed to be fried like the sotong balls over to miss-yana's place where mr-and-mrs-porno met us.
after that to fetch my-snooqums to get the drink dispenser thingy then we dropped the girls off at the chalet to start setting things up while us guys went to finish up collecting stuff.

and the door was stuck.

we never did get that door open i think...

well anyways.
first to bedok to collect the pre-ordered food goodies.
and while on our way to collect the cake (from temptations no less), mr-rider called to say he was ready to tag along.
so we fetched him and bought ice before heading back to the chalet.

by then a few of the guests had already started to arrive.
my aunty even brought more food (god bless her) which was not only bountiful but delicious as usual.

but then came the hard part.
it was time for me to head home and get the birthday celebrants to come over.

so while i went home to settle that, things progressed at the chalet.

"no lah bro got to light the cigarette first the the bbq.."

and lagi best when i got home they were sleeping!!

so never mind. woke them up and told them time to go for the chalet.

time to leave the house. but i'd made special plan for mr-porno to fetch my maid from home after we'd left so i told my parents that i needed to swing by sheng siong to get more syrup (which we actually really needed anyways).

Universal Studios? In Singapore??

and in case you haven't heard they have officially opened!
but more on that later.

well they recently opened their doors for a preview a couple of weeks back.
and by preview means pretty much everything is ready and up and the rides and all are running but you just can't get on the rides yet.
just look see look see y'know what i mean right?

so my snooqums got us some preview tickets and off we went.

so we made our way to Vivo City where we parked the car and we took the monorail thingy which brought us straight to the RWS stop.

and guess who i saw on the monorail?

it was Mac from the first Predator movie!!

oh yeah.
surely we had to take pictures with the big globe right??

and outside they had this machine that made these bubble sculpture thingys that flew off into the air.
and i guess since it was the whole casino theme going on...

and believe it or not...

they have Jurassic Park, Hollywood, New York City, Far Far Away, Madagascar, Sci-Fi City, Egypt (ruled by the Scorpion Cockster err I mean King) and a few more that I can't recall now.
yeah yeah i know i'm a cock for not saving the map to show you.

and they have a whole load of restaurants there too.
and they do mark out whether that makan place is halal or not.

we had this coupon for a preview meal on the day and it was pretty good.
a whole meal that was super filling too.
and there's lot of variety.
we had some arab-style food in the Egypt area and also some good ol' burger drive-in style food at the Hollywood area.
but the service in Egypt was so much better that Hollywood.

and the best thing?
the food is actually not overpriced!
it'd cost you just about the same price to get a burger meal back on the mainland.
i guess it's probably because they makan places are still considered operated by RWS and not by the independent restaurant operators so that's why the prices are controlled to a reasonable level.

well anyways like i mentioned earlier...
